COMPANY HISTORY

1922

Terry Bodine leaves Mid-West Electric Co., and begins operating under the Bodine name at 2233 E. William St. in Decatur.

1945

Following Terry Bodine's death, the company is sold to two of its employees, William Rathje and George Cast.

1949

William Rathje sells his stake in the company to George Cast.

1965

David J. Rathje, registered as a professional engineer following his graduation from the University of Illinois, purchases the company from George Cast. At the time of purchase, Bodine had one employee — the motor repair technician — in its 1136 E. Wood St. location. The company expands and additionally begins bidding electrical construction and design work.

1967

Company moves to 1454 E. Eldorado St. (below top).

1993

David W. Rathje succeeds his father as the president of Bodine Electric of Decatur.

2022

Bodine celebrates its centennial anniversary after 100 years in business.
