Bodine Electric of Decatur reached a safety milestone in December 2018 when the company passed the one-year mark without a recordable incident.
Bodine, one of the largest electrical contractors in the Midwest, has more than 250 field electricians. In addition, more than 40 technicians perform work in the company’s electro-mechanical repair facility.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) defines a recordable as any work-related injury or illness that requires medical treatment beyond first aid or results in loss of consciousness, days away from work, restricted work or transfer to another job.
Bodine has worked more than 650,000 man-hours in 2018 without such an incident.
“I’m exceedingly proud of the safe culture we have at Bodine Electric, and all of our employees have contributed to this accomplishment,” said David Rathje, president of Bodine Electric of Decatur. “Our commitment to safety not only benefits our company, but also creates a safe working environment for other contractors and owner employees where we work.”
Bodine has long been known for its safe work practices, having received numerous safety honors from organizations including the National Electrical Contractors Association and the Central Illinois Builders chapter of Associated General Contractors of America.
In addition, Bodine’s electro-mechanical repair facility has earned the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program Star Site designation.
Bodine, a staple in the Decatur community since 1922, employs about 400 employees and performs work for many of central Illinois’ largest industrial companies, municipalities and institutions.
